Tools

Tools are those things that help make your Halo 3 experience that little bit easier or better.

Forge - Forge is a new feature in Halo 3. It is a map editor, however you cannot change map geometry, you edit things within the maps, such as weapons and vehicles.

Up to 8 players can be in one Forge session simultaneously. Player can change between their player model, to play, shoot and move as they would normally, or press up on the D-Pad and become a monitor to edit certain aspects of the level.

Monitors may place crates, barrels, Fusion Cores, Weapons, Vehicles and more. They may also edit spawn points and criteria for players, weapons and vehicles. They can move and delete pre-existing things upon the map. However, there is a "points" limit to how much editing can be done.

The non-monitors can test out the creations as they are being made. Once the players are finished they may save their creations and upload them to Xbox Live. Creations can then be advertised and may be featured on Bungie.net if they're popular. Creations can then later be played as an ordinary match.

Forge increases the possibilities with Halo 3 allowing players to create their own Gametypes with special Forge made levels.

Player Customisation - in Halo 3 as in Halo 2 you can select one of two main player models. Either a Spartan or an Elite. But unlike Halo 2 the models have been balanced to reduce the advantages of selecting a Spartan. Also now within these main player models there is much more Player Customisation than in Halo 2.

Armour Variants

Each model has a wide selection of different armour types. You can choose different parts from each such as helmet, shoulder pads, and chest parts.

Armour Colour

You can choose a primary, secondary and detail colour for your armour.

Emblem

You can choose a emblem, a background and the associated colours for them.

Service Tag

This is a new feature, rather than in Halo 2, being identified by your emblems, on other people's screens your arrow will show your service tag. A one letter and two number identifier, which makes player communication easier.

"Hey guy with the green squiggly logo.." Can become... "Hey S72"

Theater - Use the theater to create screenshots of your favourite kills or even record them for everyone to see! The theater really is a great way to prove to people that you dont actually suck. Show them that sticky you got from across the map in High Ground!
